According to the 1880 History of Bedford/Fulton Co., he came to America
with the King's Army during the Revolutionary War. Settled on White Oak
Run inFulton Co., PA, next door to his father-in-law. Upon the death of
his father-in-law the home went to his wife Elizabeth. The Friend-Garland
homestead,south of Needmore on Rt 522 was named to the Nat'l Register of
Historic Places in 1979.
